Douglas's Story
Attended UMR and Mizzou. Had opportunity to go to work for the Missouri Dept. of Conservation-Forestry Division in October 1978. Have worked out of the Rolla Office since then as a Look-out Towerman, Equipment Mechanic, Dozer Operator, Resource Assistant, and Firefighter. Was deployed several times on Western Fire assignments. Currently I am a member of the Fire Training Cadre and also a member of the staff for the Mid-West Wildfire Training Academy.
Married the former Joy Southard (RHS-78) in Oct. 1981. Have a son- Jason (RHS-2000) and a daughter-Becky (RHS-2002). Jason played football and base...Expand for more
ball and managed the boys basketball team as well as the girls softball team. Becky played softball for 4 years and was named all-district at third base.
I was also a firefighter and Lieutenant on the Rolla Rural Fire Dept. for 15 years and was elected this year (2008) to the Board of Directors of the Rolla Rural Fire Protection Dist.
I also still own and operate the family farm that I was born and raised on.
I am starting to look forward to retirement and enjoying grandchildren.
