Douglas's Story

Was a slug for a couple years, then Reaganomics pushed me into the Air Force. Learned Russian, stayed for 6.5 years total, got a few college credits, then went back home and worked data entry at a local company till the fall of '93 when I moved to Kirksville, Missouri, with the eventual aim of finishing my education at NE Missouri state where my aunt was the university nurse. d back to school full time while working part time at a rehab center as a receptionist, intake specialist, and medical transcriptionist. They downsized two years later and I found myself again jobless and through serendipitous websurfing found myself in Iowa City, IA, doing medical transcription for the university hospital full time. Five years into that I started back to school part time and finally got my BA (Russian; Spanish minor) in 2006. I'm still working as a transcriptionist. Been here 10 years in May/08.
