Douglas's Story
Georgiana and I were married 1 week after we Graduated from Marina. Of course nobody thought we had a chance of making it. We celebrated our 46th year of marriage on June 19th,2014! We have 5 children, 21 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandson and a Great Granddaughter. We hadn't planned on having this large of a family but sometimes things just happen. We had our son Charlie when we were 18 years old. We then wanted one more child. We planned on having a child approx. 2 years after Charlie was born. So, when we were 20 and Georgiana was in the delivery room having our second child (we thought), the Doctor came into the waiting room and said to me and my extended Family, "Have you seen your twins yet?" Yes, we had Twins, Michale & Shauna. So, there we were, 20 years old with 3 children! I then had a vasectomy.
Five years later we discovered that the vasectomy did not work! We had our fourth child, Scott. The Doctor tested me to see why I was able to get Georgiana pregnant after the Vasectomy. The Doctor told us that while there were still a few live sperm, in his opinion he didn't think that we would get pregnant again. We then had our fifth child, Sara, five years later!
We have been blessed with wonderful children and a wonderful family! Georgiana and I are still in love and are enjoying our big family. Georgiana was a "Stay at home Mom" until our last was out of High School. By the way, all five of our children and one of our daughter-in-laws went to and graduated from Marina High School! We had purchased the home which was nex...Expand for more
t door to my home that I had grown up in. Therefore all five of our children went to Circle View grammar school which was my School as well!
As far as my employment was concerned, I worked 20 years at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing in Long Beach then Huntington Beach. I also ran my own business for 15 years. I had a Marine Hardware Store on Bolsa Chica and Edinger until 1988 when I finally sold it. I also spent 10 years selling Marine Hardware to other Marine Hardware businesses from. Huntington Beach to Marina Del Rey. I am now retired and enjoying Golf twice a week. I enjoy visiting with my Family frequently as well. Georgiana works in IT at Molina Health Care and she says that she will continue working for maybe three or four more years. She loves her job and the people that she works with.
We are very active in our Church. We belong to "The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder-Day Saints (Mormons)". We are currently working with young single adults (18 to 30 yr. olds) in the Goldenwest Ward. I am currently the Bishop and Georgiana helps me by doing whatever is necessary. We love working with these young adults and they sure keep us busy! Okay, it is November of 2017. Just a small update. We just had our 5th & 6th Great Grandchildren (Identical Twin Boys!) and yes, we are excited! My wife and I are serving a Mission in Seattle for a year and will be back home in HB sometime in late August. We celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary in June!
