Douglas's Story
From Lakeport I went into engineering at Waterloo. The co-op program helped me find out that wasn't really what I wanted to do.
I dropped out of school after first semester, 3rd year. Saved some money, spent a summer in Europe, then went back to Waterloo. I figured that 1/2 a degree wouldn't buy me a cup of coffee.
I was saved from engineeering when I was accepted into law school, in Windsor, in 1973.
Married for the first time in 1974, at 23. 2 kids, Mark and Talia, born in 1979 and 1982. Divorced in 1999.
Mark is an electrician, just started a teaching job at Conestoga College in Kitchener. Talia is a high school teacher and was just married to a teacher, living in Guelph. Nice...Expand for more
to have them both close to home.
I have practiced law in Kitchener, except for 5 years in Hamilton, when I lived in Ancaster (1981-1986). I do business litigation, construction litigation and insolvency law.
Remarried 3 years ago, September 2007, to Darcy. We met at Toronto Ski Club at Blue Mountain. We live in Kitchener. I have 2 step-daughters. Kaye, 13, lives with us and Clare, 16, llives with her dad in Toronto.
We split our lives between Kitchener, where our home and my practice continues. We have a second home, which awaits my retirement on the top of the escarpment near Blue Mountain.
I have continued some of my close highschool friendships with Gary and Al Macro and Greg Pinder.
