Douglas's Story
Life
Gee. It seems a long time ago now. I went from Pioneer High School (class of Â62) to UCLA where I received a Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering (Class of Â66) and a Masters in Business Administration (1967).
My career started in the Aerospace Industry (North American Aviation/Rockwell International then Atlantic Research till 1973) and morphed into the Nuclear Power Industry (Paul Munroe Hydraulics and Wyle Laboratories  1974 thru 1983). During that active office time, I (we  IÂve been married twice) invested in a variety of real estate and I was able to retire in 1983.
I continued to work for another 19 years in this Âactive retirement and was intimately involved in the ownership and operation of apartment buildings and an office building. The nineties, from a commercial real estate standpoint were difficult to the point of exhausti...Expand for more
on and we sold our last commercial property in 2002. I am now Âretired and play a rather dismal game of golf.
I was first married to Judy Heck in 1966 and had a child, Brett (1970). We lived in West LA. Later, after our divorce (1971), I moved to Costa Mesa where I met and married Leslie Prairie (1977). We subsequently moved to Brea and had our only child, Erin (1982). In 1989 we desired a less congested life style and moved to San Luis Obispo, a near coastal town half way between LA and San Francisco. We still live in that same house and thoroughly enjoy our small town (about 50,000 people) and small county (about 250,000 people) environment.
My friends and fellow students from Pioneer High School, and the very special and talented teachers and administrators, will always have a place of fondness in my memories. dsstevens the symbol at charter dot net
