Dr. Ron's Story
Life
I didn't start college until after the military (Navy) at age 21, and never actually finished High School. Thus,I was a late-bloomer.
Utilizing Navy training, I worked my way through college and pod med school as a Registered Medical Technologist (Blood Bank specialist).
I received my doctorate in 1971. (It took 6 years to get through college and 4 more for pod-med school while working full-time then part-time.)
I practiced Podiatric Medicine for 25 years, was a volunteer clinical instructor at my alma mater, taught Ship's Medicine to one class at the California Maritime Acdemy, retired from practice in the late 90s, and subsequently worked as a contributing editor and broadcaster at a financial web site. inuing medical education courses, I became enamored with the advances in wound biology and treatment of diabetic complications and have recently re-entered practice in the San Diego area. It has been most gratifying.
I have 2 sons, my wife has 2 daughters, and we have numerous "adopted" children and grandchildren.
I'm still involved musically (as an amateur harpsichordist) with attendant interest in Baroque and Renaissance keyboard compositions.
I have had a full and interesting life, contrary to my (and others')expectations as a teenager. I was never an outstanding student, but persisted. It is an example of the adage attributed to Winston Churchill: "Never ever give up!" Even a marginal student in K-12 can make it.
