Durlan "Lanny"'s Story
Life
After a leisurely on and off tour of duty at the University of Oklahoma, I finally got my Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1971. Took a job with W & W Steel Company in Norman. After 18 years with them, an opportunity came up in southern California as Controller of a small estate planning law firm. Have been enjoying the sunshine since 1989. My son, Richard, went back to Norman in 1999 as a freshman at OU. Currently keeping busy at the law office.
I retired in August 2010 and moved back to Norman, OK where I am enjoying retirement.
School

ded 10 different schools by the time I reached the 10th grade. I started 1st grade in Maryland, finished first grade in Newell, Iowa. Moved to Norman 1952... attended 2nd, 3rd & 4th grade at McKinley School. Moved to Rosemark, TN for 5th grade, then to Hawaii for 6th, 7th and half of 8th grade ( a different school each year). Returned to Norman in Jan 1959. Finished 8th grade at Central Jr. High. 9th grade at West Jr. High (its first year), then to Norman High... graduating in 1963. Then to University of Oklahoma for accounting degree (after trying architecture first).
