Earlene's Story
I still live in San Jose. I am a divorced mother with two adult children. I would of loved to come to the reunion but I didn't know who to call. I found out Steve was handling all of the reunion. I wouyld love to come to any other events that are happening. After high school I went to West Valley for a year. After that I learned how to be a keypunch operator and landed a job at Nasa Ames at Moffett Field. Stayed there until I got married and had two children. Got divorced in 1985. Been busy since then taking care of my children. My daughter Heather was born on Feb. 18, 1977. Heather was two months early, and after she was born the doctors told me she had Down's, and had a bad heart. She went under open heart surgery in Feb. of the folling year to repair three holes in her heart. The doctor didn't expect her to live but she surprised them and is now 31 years old. It hasn't been easy caring for a special needs child but I did. My son Eric who is 29 also has proplems now as he was told he has a cancerous brain turmor in 2006. He has radiation treatments and is currently on alot of medication. So for the last 31 years almost 32 this is what I have done with my life. It hasn't been easy. Also I wanted to tell all the guys that was in my father's scout troop 363, Robert Dingey scoutmaster that he passed away on May 1999 of skin cancer. He always talked about his scouts with great fondness. Especially Bruce Aby and another scout that I finally found after 35 years. I guess that is all I have to say for now. Peace Earlene Update to my story. My son Eric had brain surgery in May of this year. He was in the operating room for seven and half hours. The doctor's removed 85% of the tumor. He came through the surgery perfect. He has gone through six courses of cemo with no side effects. We got the results back of the last MRI done la...Expand for more
st week, and doctor's said the tumor has is shrinking. What a wonderful Christmas this is going too be. He still has more cedmo to go, but it is looking wonderful for him. We still need all your prayers. Hope everybody has a wonderful christmas and I will be at the reunion.
Update: I cannot come to the reunion this year because my son is going in on this next wednesday for more brain surgery. We found out last week that the sode they operated on last year and got 85 percent of it out is growing again. He has lost all the feeling in his arm, it hurts me to see suffer like this. I wish I could take it away. We are just doing alot of praying and keeping our spirts up. My daughter also broke her ankle a few weeks back and will be on best rest for three more weeks. Me I am just hanging in there and hoping everything comes out good. Please say some prayers for my family. I will be thinking about all of you at the reunion. Please take alot of pictures for me. Take care and let me hear from all of you. 68 Rules. Earlene My wonderful precious loving son lost his battle with brain cancer on Sunday morning September 12, 2010. My heart is so broken right now. He went in peace and is with our Lord, he is in no pain and with our loved ones that have gone before us. He fought a long and hard battle with brain cancer. Earlene Dingey Olive
