Earline's Story

Life My Spouse Our parents lived next door to each other in the Logan Fontenelle projects. We were born next door to each other and our families were always close. His mother and my mother were best friends, his dad and mine used to gamble together. His older sisters used to babysit me; my older brothers ran with his older brothers and used to watch out for him. We went together for awhile in the 70s; lost track of each other for about 20 years. Got back in touch in 1999; we finally married in August, 2000. Sadly, my husband passed away on February 7, 2010, just 12 days before his 60th birthday from lung cancer. He was diagnosed with lung cancer just last year (2009) on his birthday, which was February 19. I will always love him and miss him... a stepdaughter, Monica, and a granddaughter, Asya. My Job I am disabled. I spend my time working on my house and traveling. I always wanted to be a engineer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were right because my health has never been any good. My favorite way to relax was to spend time with my husband; now, I just travel. Otherwise, I'm a news junkie, I visit family and catch up on what's going on with them. The wildest thing I ever did in high school was smacked my guidance counselor back (Miss Wick) after she slapped me first. My algebra teacher called me a knucklehead while he was talking to me about something someone else did that I was a witness to. After he called me a knucklehead, I played the dozens on him. That's when she smacked me after I made a disparaging comment about his mother! I paid for that one after I got home!
