Earlla's Story
I always wanted to be a singer and actress when I grew up. My friends and family thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right. At the ripe old age I am at present, I spent 5 months last summer doing summer stock with the Montgomery Theatre at Avonlea Villiage in Cavendish Beach, P.E.I. I have been an actress and a vocalist all my life and don't show any signs of slowing down. Being an actress doesn't necessarily mean eeking out a living, particularly in Canada and so following lots of years in university, I have spent the past twenty five years practicing psychotherapy. During my years at Prince of Wales, I had many great teachers, but one I remember in particular was Carl Zavits my grade eight teacher, along with Gordon Price who was the Supt. of Schools at that time, I was inspired to learn and grow and will never forget Gordon Prices words to me when I was obliged to quite school at the end of grade eight (I didn't attend high school) " Earlla, someday you can do whatever you want to do". As a therapist I used that great line on countless yougsters, who felt trapped and discouraged and watched them take heart, as I once did....and still do.
