Ed Bunker:  

Life Graduating from St. Thomas Township High School in 1965 and joined the US Navy in December that year. Served a myriad of duty stations and assignments in the 32 years that followed. Joined as an enlisted man and was trained as an electrician and worked in that field for nine years. Accepted promotion to commissioned warrant officer and managed electrical divisions while mastering and qualifying as Officer of the Deck underway on several warships. After a stint in Orlando, FL training thousands of recruits, I returned to sea duty serving as Electrical Officer, Auxiliaries Officer, and Main Propulsion Assistant to the Chief Engineer. Serving another tour ashore at Norfolk’s Service School Command I managed the administration and updates of 69 Engineering course curriculums. Returned to sea duty again in June 1982 to serve as Chief Engineer of two warships, an Aircraft Carrier Maintenance Manager, and was promoted to the Commissioned Officer ranks. In June 1988 I accepted orders to be the Commanding Officer of the floating dry-dock “Sustain” followed by rewarding tours as an Engineering Propulsion Plant Inspector, and Surface Ship Safety inspector.
