And the end of all our exploring. Will be to arrive where we started. And know the place for the first time." T.S. Eliot "Like a piece of ice on a hot stove the poem must ride on its own melting. A poem may be worked over once it is in being, but may not be worried into being. Its most precious quality will remain its having run itself and carried away the poet with it. Read it a hundred times: it will forever keep its freshness as a petal keeps its fragrance. It can never lose its sense of a meaning that once unfolded by surprise as it went." Robert Frost". More about Ed:"Born in Greenwich Village in New York City. Moved to Hilton Head Island from Venice Beach CA in 1984. Worked for the Sea Pines Company as a property manager. Met Charles Fraser and embraced his vision for Hilton Head Island. Lived through Bobby Ginn and the Sea Pines bankruptcy. Started New Leaf Ma...Expand for more
nagement, Inc. in 1986 and grew it to manage and maintain 44 regimes on the island and provide hundreds of local jobs. Sold New Leaf in 1996 and started Second Nature in 1997. Grew Second Nature to maintain hundreds of properties in Hilton Head and Bluffton and again provided hundreds of local jobs. Sold Second Nature in 2008 to Valley Crest Corporation. Co-founded The Bluffton Farmers Market as a non profit with Diane Fornari in 2008. Former president and current board member. Grew the market from a dozen vendors into the event it has now become with over 50 vendors at peak of season and attendance that sometimes exceeds 3,300 per week. The projection for this season is over 50 vendors doing an average of $1,000 business each week for 44 weeks per year which will create an economic impact of over $2.2 million to the economy of Historic Old Town Bluffton (and that doesn't count the business done by patrons of the market in surrounding shops in Old Town Bluffton as they come and go). Became host of Talk of the Town on WHHI TV in February, 2002. It has been an honor to help tell the stories that make Hilton Head Island such a special place to live. I love the stories of amazing contributions by scores of volunteers. I love the stories of courageous entrepreneurs starting and running their own small businesses. I love the stories of our history and our native island culture. Thank you Hilton Head Island for allowing me to serve our community in this way. Got off the air to become a candidate for mayor of Hilton Head Island in August 2010. I'm currently working in business development with my friend Michael Elmore at Interchange Commercial. We're involved with Jaspers Crossing at the Highway 278 and I-95 interchange, along with a whole host of other commercial development projects. Some other things that happened along the way. I coached little league and rec center soccer (with my son Zach as co-coach. Thank you Zach! You're the best!) combined 13 seasons. Spanish Wells POA board member (where we implemented a trash pick up program that didn't put our own local small haulers out of business). Served on the board of the Boys and Girls Club and went out and found the land on which the club now stands. 6 1/2 years on the Design Review Board for the Town of Hilton Head Island. Rotarian for 13 years. Rotarian of the year. Married Dianne Kosto (the most wonderful wife that God ever created) on January 24, 2010! (And got two wonderful new sons, Jack and William in the deal!)".
