When I retired several years ago I found myself with the time and personal permission to engage a profession which had been a siren call to me. I am a late-in-life professional writer, but I’ve been writing throughout my entire life. Even as a child I wrote poems and stories and shared them with my family and my friends. Throughout my public school education I wrote incessantly. It wasn’t always remarkable or even note-worthy, but it was a comfortable and expressive way to communicate my thoughts. I have been surprised (pleasantly) in recent months to have a number of my classmates tell me that they remember pieces I wrote as early as Junior High School. College and graduate schools gave me lots of opportunity to write. Actually, some of it was not half bad!
