Ed's Story

So many things have happened since my first posting that I need to update it. I did serve 20 years in the Marines and spent most of my time in Quality Assurance, Aircraft inspection and several other things. One thing I liked about my time in the service was meeting the different people from all over the world, and the time I spent in Japan, Okinawa and other places in Asia. While on Okinawa, I would backpack the Island on the weekends to meet the people, and I took a gazillion pictures which I have somewhere around here. Loved the culture and the people, After the Marine Corps, I finished college and took life easy for a short time while trying to figure out what I wanted to do. Tried several positions which I didn't like and a position opened at a local school district in their technology department and I took it. I've spent the past 20 years with the school district and ready to retire at the end of this year. I was planning on retiring about 5 years ago, but things changed and I didnt. What I plan on doing when I retire, is travel and visit more of the United States with my wife in our motor home, and visit our grand kids both local and in Kauai. My daughter in Kauai has been after us to retire on the island by them, not sure I'm ready for that isolation. Love being able to go and do what we want and not being restricted by anything. Life has been good to me in that I'm in good health and have a wonderful wife. We both love the beach, travel and our grand kids. I still run when ever I can or we just go for walks. Starting to get more involved with geocaching and hope to do more of that when we start travelin...Expand for more
g more. Hope all is well with all of you. Dont forget to SMILE!! Hi all, Back from 5 months on the road. Traveled over 12000 miles, visited around 31 states (little jaunt into Canada), approx 20 friends and family and spending this last week camping on the beach. Visited a lot of places, made some new friends and planning for our next trip. It will be different going back to our house after all of this, but it will be good to see our friends and family here. Several of you have visited and left notification, but I don't do facebook or things like that. I would like to hear about you so try this, smilebuck1(at)gmail.com Sorry for being a pain. Hope all of you had a good summer and now to get ready for the holidays. SMILE and have a good day. Ok, it's 2012 now and a little update. Didn't do any long trips in 2011, but a lot of 1-3 week trips in the RV. Looks like we might go to Denmark and visit family there in August of 2012. Been spending time with my three grand kids in San Marcos and three in Kauai, boy do they grow fast. Enjoying the hell being retired. Able to help friends who are in need. Hope all of you are dong well and enjoying life. Ed 2017 quick update WOW, time does fly. Still traveling in the newer RV, and spending a lot of time with our friends and family. I've also joined the Coast Guard Auxillary about 7 years ago. I support the CG in the communications dept. I finally got my Amateur Radio license about 8 years ago and enjoy doing that. My interest in radio was because or Mr. Gilliland from school. Hope everyone is healthy and enjoying life. Don't forget to SMILE and LAUGH every day. Ed
