Eddie's Story
Hi,
My family moved to England in the early 70's. We have a similar web site here and I thought I would put my jr. and middle school - although I left at the end of 6th Grade (I think thats what it is called) I have then guessed what year I would have left High School.
So any one who may remember me here is a brief history.
I have a house in England (I am actually a dual national now).
I worked in Telecommunications (Apprentice through to Reporting to the CEO), left to set up a Consultancy in Portfolio, Programme and Project Management (PPPM). Sold this and worked for a year in the new organisation before leaving to set up another consultancy focusing on PPPM but in the international Development Sector.
I then had a sabbatical for 2.5 years working for the UN, in Dec 2013 when the conflict broke out in South Sudan I was posted there as Head of Programme, working in food security and livelihood, building of hospitals, schools and government buildings and the emergency repair of airfield and construction of camps for displaced people.
In April 2015 returned to my consultancy, currently working in South East Asia (Human Rights) and sensitive areas of the Middle East.(UN Agency and DPKO) and finally some assignments here in the ...Expand for more
UK, Its Feb 2017 and now in Sierra Leone with the UN again, working on a programme to reduce child and mother mortality and reduce teenage pregnancy.
I went to Universiy and completed my MSc in Programme and Project Management, graduating in 2022, I have started my PhD and I am a part time Lecturer, still consulting, since the pandemic, global clients happy to work remote.
On top of this in 1978 I joined the American Reserve's for 7 years(well forced to by the US Embassy!), in 1985 I became British and joined the British Territorial Army and in 1989 went to Sandhurst Royal Military Academy and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer, went on to become a Captain.
Married twice, 3 daughters - all are named after flowers! I stay in touch with my cousin who lives in NJ and visit her on a regular basis. Maybe one day - I will be there when there is a reunion.
I have recognised a few of the names on the list - but not sure if anyone would remember me - but thank you to those that have and sent a message/signed the guest book ! Every now and then I reflect "what would my life be like if my parents hadn't moved in 1972...
Thank you for reading this.... lets hope we have time left to do more, see more and never forget our roots...
