Eddie's Story

Life After Monroe High in 1965, I went to Wingate College along with about half of Monroe High. Then to UNC-CH and graduated in 1969 with a BA in Poli Sci. I attended the UNC School of Law and got through one semester before being drafted. I joined the Army rather taking my chances on the draft in February 1970. After basic at Ft Jackson, I went to Military Intelligence school (yeah, I know, MI is a contradiction in terms) at Ft Devens, MA. Then to Germany for 2 1/2 years with some trips to Turkey, Africa and SE Asia. Worked in the I.G. Farben Building with some great guys in both the Army and the Air Force. Then to Augsburg, Germany and worked for the Inspector General of ASA Europe for 1yr. I worked for a great guy by the name of Ernest Costanzo. e 70's by now...truly a wonderful human being. Got out in '73 and went to Greensboro for 2yrs. In '75 I transferred to Florida with a Bank of American company. I now live in Fern Park and have retired from SunTrust Bank. I have three children and two step-children. Luckily,all are now out of the house I keep in touch with Ralph Howie & Gerald Thomas in Monroe who I am proud to say have been my friends for almost 60 yrs. (damn, I'm not that old, am I?) We get together several times and year and keep up on old times. My oldest son, Pat, is out of the Marines and has moved to Monroe, NC to be near his daughter. My younger kids, Gregory and Rachel are now in college. I have two step children who have grown up with me; Tom in Florida and Adam in Mass. I would more than welcome any correspondence from anyone who would like to write.
