Edgar's Story

Just like in school I am still a car nut.I am involved in drag racing phtography and video.I do some freelance photography and writing. My photos and short articles have been published in East Coast Drag News and Vintage Fuel magazines.I have to thank my English teacher,Mr.Romond, for inspiring me 25 years ago.I never forgot his advice about using my love and knowledge of drag racing as a way to share it with others. I never did get an all out dragster as many expected me to do.They cost way too much money.I do,however, like to take my Camaro to the drags and "play" once in a while. However,I might go to a drag racing school and drive a 160 mph dragster like alot of my friends race. Recently, I began attending dirt track races. Modifieds, late models, sprint cars, midgets,Legends cars. They are really cool from a photographer's standpoint. There's always alot of action to photograph. It has opened up a whole other world of racing for me. I also enjoy photographing outdoor scenes. I try to capture some of the country that is still left in the area where most of us grew up. Though many things have changed, there are some things I still remember that I like to take pictures of.Oxford Furnace lake and along the Musconetcong River are great places to relax and take in nature. One of my more interesting subjects to photograph has been the remains of a town in Pennsylvania named Centralia. It is nearly abandoned due to a coal mi...Expand for more
ne fire that burned underneath it. I first discovered it around 1990,after most of the people had left. Now there are about 5 or 6 homes and maybe 8-10 people left there.I have taken photos there in all different seasons.Winter is the most dramatic because that is when the fire is most noticible. If people could see me now they would see I'm A LOT more outgoing than I was in high school.Especially around the ladies.LOL.I worked as a delivery driver for 14 years and had to learn to talk with the public. That broke me out of my shyness. It is not uncommon now for me to strike up conversations with total strangers in restaurants, stores,or at the races I attend. Back in school I had friends but it wasn't as easy for me to talk to people back then. I have been married to my wife ,Holly (WHRHS 1982-1987) since 1996. We met in 1988. I currently STILL live in NJ, BUT hope to one day move west. My hobbies are drag racing(of course), dirt track racing,photography/videography,model cars,Lionel trains, local history, including railroad history and racing history. I enjoy all types of music, depending on my mood. I am looking forward to seeing old friends I haven't seen in so many years.I do run into some former classmates here and there ,but would like to catch up with all my friends from Warren Hills from 1982-1984.Those were the two best years of school in my life.I wish I could relive them again.Hope to hear from some of you.
