Life
Hello, I retired from 31 years in Law Enforcement. 27 of those years in the Detective Bureau, 8 yrs undercover narcotics and the rest pretty much in Robbery/Homicide.I married a girl from the class of 62. Charlene (Koopmans) Compton. We have been married 40+ yrs and have 4 children and 4 Grandchildren. We are still in California and no plans to move. In the last 30 yrs we have travelled at every opportunity and were blessed with quite a few opportunities. We finally decided to see more of the U.S. and recently bought a 5th wheel and a chevy diesel. So, our wanderlust continues! My recreations, when I'm not fixing something for one of the boys or my daughter, are working on my 55 chevy from High School,sailing,doing some private investigations (mostly finding lost family members), and some projects at an orphanage in Mexico.
Well, time to update our lives. We have (not us personally) added a 5th Grandchild. My youngest Mike and Stephanie have Jeremiah, who started KINDERGARTEN THIS WEEK!! Yes, I am a little slow reporting things. We r3ecently celebrated our 45 Wedding Anniversary by taking all children , grandchildren to 2 houses on Kauai, what a great time.
We continue to travel here and abroad. We travelled to what turned out to be my favorite National Park, Glacier. Great hiking, wildlife observations and beauty. Then continued with the 5th wheel to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Sturgis (my Harley demanded I go), Deadwood, and Wall Drug. If I had been born a few hundred years earlier I'm sure I'd have been a cowboy. For my 70th B-Day we took the 5th wheel to Campland by the Bay in San Diego. I was joined by friends and family. We had a lot of fun and my daughter made a book of my life in pics. She snuck around and put it together, what a sweetheart. I know 70 sounds old, but, last October we flew to Shanghai for a few days, then flew to Lhasa, Tibet. The Chinese are inflicting a long term genocide on the Tibetans, it is truly China's shame. After a few days in Lhasa we took jeeps along the Himalayas (14 to 17 thousand feet) to Kathmandu, Nepal, and spent a few days there. We saw some inspiring views of Mt. Everest and wee supposed to go to the Base Camp, But the Chinese gov't closed it to all foreigners (Rats).

ccasionally. If you have not been there in awhile the City Gov't have taken good care of it, and Iceland is still there. We still go to the orphanage in Mexico & I do my werrands on my motorcycle whenever possible. Well, Charlene said I need to close and get ready for the next adventure. In a few days we leave for Ireland, and then visit friends in France and some of Charlene's relatives in Holland . We did something different this summer. We are House sitting for relatives on Whidby Island in Washington State. We are in a park like setting on the South end of the Island overlooking Puget Sound. We brought our 5th wheel and went to Olympic National Park for 5 days (Hurricane Ridge, Crescent Lake and Sol Duc ). Most of our children came to visit (and grandchildren) . We return home after Labor Day and leave again in October for Turkey and a Black Sea cruise. The fun continues!! I hope you all are well and enjoying life. Blessings, Ed Compton
Well, we are home from Turkey. What an amazing trip. Istanbul is an exciting city with a unique history. Our trip included Ephesus, Kapadocia, Azmir, Pammakale and much more. We also cruised the Black Sea and visited Bulgaria and Soochi, Russia. Since the Olympics it is a beautiful Ghost Town! Next, we are leaving for Italy, from north to south with extra time in Rome (of course), then off to southern France to visit retired friends :) are we done....No, we will take the train to Amsterdam ,rent a car , and drive to Charlenes cousins city for 2 weeks, theyu are alwaqys fun and kindred spirits. Well, one more trip for this year!! We found a great deal and so we are off. Nov. We will fly to Beijing, China. We will visit the Great wall, the Panda's, the Terracotta Warriors, and visit Macau, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. We will also take boat trips on the Yangtze, Lee and Hahn Rivers. We will also have a 20 day Chinese Dinner (?) and see every Lazy Susan known to Man. In Hong Kong we will have a day with friends who are in their second year teaching at a nearby University, We look forward to spending some time together. I told our children that we will do Thanksgiving, because with the jet lag we are not going anywhere.
