Workplace
I am career Fire Captain with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department (in Virginia) where I have worked since Jan 24, 1983. I retired in 2013 after serving 31years. Looking back I have accomplished more that I thought possible. People keep asking how many fires have I put out. Thats easy "All of them!" :). Lots of memories as a firefighter of 35+ years. I started as a volunteer at Wheaton Rescue Squad (Tuesday Night) and Rockville Fire Department (Station 23) in 1977. I have be assigned to Engines, Rescue Squads, Tower Ladders, Aerial Ladders, Tillerman on a Tiller truck, Telesquirts, Rescue Boats and Medic/Ambulance. I have rode as a Firefight...Expand for more
er/EMT, Apparatus Driver (on all the above), Technical Rescue Master Technician, Lieutenant and now as a shift Captain. It's been a long haul and I have followed my dream. I am proud of my service but am glad to be retired. I have been blessed.
Where I would rather be...is where I am!
We (my wife Donna and I live 1 mile from Ski Liberty just 4 miles over the PA state line in Carroll Valley. I love the lack of traffic and conjestion, the peaceful easy feelings of the mountians, the nice people I have as neighbors and the change of seasons. I enjoy watching it snow from the warmth of the hot tub with the wife in the winter, the flowers and forest bloom in the spring and the leaves turning colors like fireworks in the fall (Summer we are at the beach laying on warm sand). I still enjoy the view of the Chesapeake Bay from a beach house we bought in 2020. It’s in St Leonard MD where It’s been our life’s dream to be able to walk across the road jump on our boat and be on the Bay. We also have a private beach for the days the Bay is too rough. Its nice to go out in the middle of the bay on the boat and get away from it all. We have it all! The mountians and the beach, Life is GOOD!
