Edward's Story

After high school, I went off to Texas A&M, then after a couple of years joined the Air Force. I did four years, saw Guam and Germany, then came home and completed my education while working in Contracting and Procurement at Kelly AFB. In 1980, I moved to Houston and went to work at NASA Johnson Space Center. I left the civil service in 1986 and spent almost ten years in the private sector with a host of aerospace contractors. I moved to Dallas in 1995 and joined the transit agency (DART) as a senior manager in Contracting. In 2004, I left to do two years as a contractor in Iraq working in the Iraq Reconstruction office doing water and public works projects. I came 'home' to San Antonio for about three months in 2006 before leaving to go to Bogota, Colombia where I was the Chief of Contracting for the military group at the U.S. Embassy for thirty months. I worked for about three years for the Army Corps of Engineers in Honolulu, Hawaii as Chief of the Contract Execution Branch, where we handled military and civil works construction projects throughout Ha...Expand for more
waii and the Pacific, including Guam, American Samoa, Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands (Kwajalein). I served a year TDY to Kabul, Afghanistan working to build facilities for the Afghan National Army, Afghan National Police as well as roads and infrastructure throughout the country. I am now back in the Mobile area, working for the Corps of Engineers Mobile District in downtown Mobile as Chief of the Supplies & Services Contracting Branch. I lived in historic Malbis on the Eastern Shore until about a month ago, when I moved back to west Mobile, not far from the University of South Alabama. I now live in Midtown, a block from Murphy High School. Looking to retire in January 2019. I am twice divorced and have three children and two granddaughters. I keep busy trying to play a different golf course every weekend. Looking forward to retirement so that can be a different course every DAY rather than every weekend. Would love to hear from any of you, especially if you are going to be in the Mobile, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Biloxi, Pensacola area.
