Edward's Story

Graduated from Westfield State in 1970 and was immediately selected by Uncle Sam. As all of my family before me were in the Navy, I decided to join, although the Army did offer to send me to Language School. After my tour aboard a brand new ship (USS LaMoure County LST 1194), I returned to civilian life as a certified History teacher, but this was in the Proposition 2.5 era, so I had to adjust my plans. nd still am to my wonderful bride of 43 years). I went for and obtained a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling. Since then I have worked in a variety of settings, the most recent being a 12 year stint as a counselor at West Springfield H.S. Now retired, I definitely enjoy the freedom and have four wonderful granddaughters to me and my wife busy. As with all of us, I have had to re-adjust my career plans, but the journey has been great.
