Edward Jay's Story
Life
After High School I worked a few different places. I enjoyed life, got married, had kids, picked up an MA, and began teaching, moved to Ca. Got divorced. Traveled the Southwest on a motorcycle, saw some great sights! Got married once more. Taught all over the place in San Diego. Missed RI. Came back. Began teaching severe behavior and developmentally disabled kids. Got divorced once more. Bought a house. Teach guitar, and remodeled a warehouse with some friends. Living, doing okay, enjoying my life and living it fixing up my 1880 home. Sailing on the bay the summer of 2004. Life is a bit on hold at the moment. Severe neck injury stopped me in my tracks for a bit here. Recuperating after surgery. Stopping to smell the roses was ok for a bit, but I am getting antsy and still have limitations.

School
I've attended classes at colleges on the East and West coasts. I have a BA and an MAT from RIC, and had started work on a Phd at Point Loma Nazarene College in La Jolla Ca. I've attended classes at SDSU, MESA and South western University. It seems that my education will never finish, as I am still attending classes for an additional MA in Spec. Ed currently at RIC.

stics, Administration in Ed, and Metal Work. I was on campus at SDSU the day a Phd candidate stressed out over his dissertation gunned down three Drs on the review board. They locked down the entire campus that day, and I was stressed because I had my two young sons there with me that day. The student was apprehended after the shooting, but the lesson I learned made me think about the possibility of having been in the building where the review was being held... kind of freaks me out a little...
Workplace
I left RI for a while and began teaching in California. After spending a summer restoring an old yacht in Glorietta Bay in Coronado Ca., I secured a full time position teaching kids with developmental disabilities and Autism. I have gained a lot of experience in Ca. Teaching Special Education in the public sector and for the California Dept of Corrections in San Diego. Before leaving Ca, I taught a class of medically fragile toddlers, and primary elementary school aged children. It seems that I have learned a lot about life from those who don't have a great deal of time left here on earth, but am moved and touched that I was allowed to spend some of the little time some of the kids were here. Currently, I teach older students with Behavioral, Psychiatric, and Developmental disabilities at Bradley Hospital in East Providence RI, and love every minute of my job. I am also involved with children in a second job teaching music and guitar to kids of all ages.
