Edward's Story
Life
We Moved to Scottsdale, AZ last August from Arlington Heights, IL. I am Semi-retired after 25 years in the commercial real estate field. We have two daughters. Kristin is living in San Francisco and Michelle is in Denver. Retirement is not for me. I am constantly looking for other opportunities to keep me busy. I will update my bio shortly.
After graduating from HPHS in 1958, Bill Meyerhoff arranged for he and I to work that Summer on Catalina Island off the coast of California. We worked on one of the interior ranches. It was a great experience. After returning I went to Southern Illinois University for a year and transferred to the U of I in Champaign/Urbana. I pledged the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and continued my business courses. I dropped out after my Sophmore year and returned to California for a year to work in a management program for the then Security Bank in Burbank. My interest in the program waned and I enlisted in the Army.
Spent basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri then went to Ft. Gordon in Augusta, Georga for additional training. I was assigned to the Army Security Agency and sent to Texas for a couple of months and finally ended up at Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the 313th ASA Batallion assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. Went to jump school at Ft. Benning, GA and returned to Ft. Campbell to finish my tour.

Business. After college I held a number of jobs in sales beginning with a small plastics company in Evansville, Indiana called Sunbeam Plastics. I then worked for Xerox, Weyerhaeuser and a New York Publisher of trade magazines named Lebhar-Friedman selling advertising space. Then in 1973 I entered the commercial real estate field and was a broker for a real estate company called Van C. Argiris. In 1977 I changed frims and became a partner with Harrington, Tideman & O'Leary, also a commercial real estate company. Our company was dissolved in 1984 and I then joined the firm of Bennett & Kahnweiler. All these firms were or are in Chicago. Then in 1998 I decided to get out of the business and take life a little easier.
I was married in 1968 to Judy Hood, who I met on a blind date. We bought a house in Lake Bluff, IL on Witchwood Lane. My first daughter was born November 1970 and my second daughter was born in July 1975. Both went to Lake Forest High School.
Kristin, my oldest, went to college in Vermont and received a BA degree. Michelle, my other daughter, went to The Ohio State University and received a BA and MA degree.
Judy and I were divorced in 1990 but remain on good terms. In 1991 I married Mary Harris,who is in the same age group as I am, and moved to Arlington Heights. Mary has three children by a previous marriage, two boys and one girl. Her daughter lives in Pheonix and the two sons live in the Chicago area.
