LEE Edward's Story

Life Teaching both skiing and snowboarding for the Ski School of Aspen in winter and Mountain Boarding and Fly fishing in summer, I have made Aspen Snowmass my home. Placed 1st in the Colorado Zebulon Crossover Race Feb 26th, 2005 and 6th at the US Nationals for Mountain Boarding BorderCross. Ever listen to the lyrics of `Rocky Mountain High?` It talks about a guy who came to Colorado in summer of his 27th year, realized he had found home, and made a break from his former life. I've never looked back---I fell in love with Aspen upon my arrival. I came on vacation, decided that it would be a great location to write my dissertation, and after completing my PhD, I remained here teaching skiing and snowboarding. I have become convinced that God made Aspen with skiers on his mind. I love these mountains and what all that they hold: hiking, camping, canoeing, mountain biking, white water kayaking, and of course, riding the snowwaves in the winter. I am a novice windsurfer and an avid reader: 19th century French lit/Latin American and European history. Although life in the big city was once fascinating, I have found my home here in this mountain hamlet four hours from Denver and have no desire to leave this surreal paradise, especially for the pressures and stresses of a large metropolitan area. Life in this unique small town is relaxed and casual, but with all the cultural oportunities of a large city. Enjoy woodworking, oil and acrylic painting, and steel sculpture. Artist in residence at Anderson Art Center in Snowmass. Would like to meet people who are kiteboarders or a Spanish or Portuguese speakers. ***************************************************************** 6' 190 lbs. brown/green eyes, lean, muscular, well hung. te water kayaking, windsurfing, camping, mountain boarding in summer. Placed 6th in US Nationals for Mountainboard Boarder-X. I have made home Aspen where I love the Colorado cool nights in the mountains with all the spectaculer hiking, camping, and fishing Aspen offers. If you are in the area, hit me up. Like French lit. [Flaubert, Zola, and Balzac], Hellenistic architecture; kids [want to have kids with big ole' labs too] and Classical Greek, Roman, & Renaissance Italian painting/sculpture. ------------------------------------------------------- Whatever your feelings about Iraq, my thoughts go out to the men and women living there after a dust-covered day of patrols in cities filled with people who resent our presence. Young soldiers in the harsh desert pondering the world they left behind...of the world they may never see again.... Perhaps that world is the deep, thick snow of the Sierra, or the light fluffy powder of the Colorado Elk Mountains, or the storm brewing over the Wasatch... Because just the thought of skiing and the images that surround it can lighten the load of heavy artillery fire. This is especially true now when the skiers and riders among our soldiers feel the pending sadness of perhaps missing another winter. Soldiers are trained to be focused on the chore at hand. But for those times they have the need to let their minds wander, pleasant memories or recurring images burned into their consciousness provide them solace in a chaotic world. It is those memories they call upon when the need to find a happy place arises. For many in our military, that happy place is on a snow covered slope on a sunny day linking turns with their buddies on the way to the bar. It is my sincere prayer that you guys abroad will return to feel those turns again. God bless you.
