Edward 's Story

Military United States NAVY USS Forrestal- CV59, 1977-1980 S6 Aviation Stores (ships company) AK2 celtic_rocker55 at yahoo dot com send me an e mail keep in touch. I always wanted to be a traveler when I grew up. I did it on the "dime" of the US Navy. Some places I have been to (Isreal, Egypt, Spain, Italy, Greece)to name a few. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I always enjoy a cool pint of Guinness to unwind and blow off steam. Horse shoes and ring toss with the Guinness are a close second. Any challengers? I never did any real wild things in school other than having a party at my parents house while they were away. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have power , authority, and bank (money) to be able to deal with the day-to-day. John and Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King are inspiring. They all came to the final realiziation that they were born to give up their lives for positive social change and the greater good of the United States. I've been everywhere man, I've been everywhere man! ( Johnny Cash). Left Schenectady NY due to NO REAL prospects. I had to work from day one. My family didn't own a company so they weren't able to HAND ME A JOB when I got out of High School, like many of my classmates (they know who they are). Joined the NAVY In Great Lakes IL, ported in Norfolk VA for 6 mos, then Millington TN (was in Memphis TN when Elvis died). Changed home port to Mayport FL just outside of Jacksonville FL. Got out of the Navy in 1980, moved back to Schenectady NY for 6 months then off to Houston TX from 1980-1985. Work for Xerox Corp from 1980-1985 and 1993 to Present. Late in 1985 I moved to Denver CO working for a Company less than a year. Back to Schenectady NY for a month or two before moving to Albany NY for six years. After leaving a job in Saratoga Springs NY, Moved to Kansas City, MO Lees Summit MO and now after 52 years live in the small city of Belton, M...Expand for more
O (where Carry Nation once lived). The one person from my past whom I most recently seen again was Carol J VanDerWerken (Bizan), because after all the years we remain friends and she keeps me grounded with many early memories of the past and the fun we had with family and friends growing up as young kids (preteens-teenages). I have no obsessions that I'm aware of. If so, somebody please let me know. Q: Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. What's been your biggest surprise? A: How I got married and how I have three good kids. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen and add on to have a back porch (sun room). My dream summer home would be in Saratoga Springs NY (when I retire). From my kids I have learned how easy in is to succome to pier pressure, no matter how small the situation. It matter what people think, to them, I guess a social conciousness. Q: Which teacher would you love to see again? Mrs Barbara Cobb (Jedke). Lincoln Elementary A: Why? She took a special interest in me and helped me stay out of trouble, I wanted to thank her after all these years. If I won $100 million, the party is on me! My entire immediate family (including 1st cousins, Aunts & Uncles) would all be taken care of.. My current age is 53. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now (53) would be old. I was so completely correct. What happened to your first love? She got married had two kids and seems to be happy and sucessful. I am happy for her. My second love realized the same fate. I share my home with my wife and 2 out of 3 children), which I find very normal most times. You get one do-over. What do you do differently? Get a Better education. In 10 years, I hoped to be retired. The stock market crash hasen't helped anyone's situation. I'm going to get there by wing and a prayer. My first job was at Arthur Treachers Fish and Chips, where I got paid $1.73 an hour to cook. What I remember most about it is the grease..
