Edward's Story
In my South High School -- Worcester, MA -- yearbook it said "the Marines his destiny." That was very true. I went to Parris Island in July 1960. I left active duty for the reserves and college in September of 1961 and attended Fitchburg State College. I returned to active duty as a corporal in '64 followed by the first of four assignments to West-Pac and Southeast Asia ('64, '68, '70 & '80). The rewards for my Vietnam and West-Pac experiences... well, I'm alive (only one medivac), I still speak enough Vietnamese for small talk. I lost a lot of friends... too many! I finally graduated from Fitchburg State College with the class of '74 after finishing my last year while still on active duty with the Marines... I attended commencement ceremonies in my Marine dress white uniform... in a sea of black cap and gowns!

n '68 I became an officer. When Hamas blew up the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon on October 23, 1983 I began reliving the past in the middle of a personal life crisis. I discharged from the Marines in 1985 and came back to Worcester in 1999 to help my aunt -- Helen Agbay, South High School Spanish teacher -- until her death in 2004. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Framingham State in May 2006. I still work and live in Worcester trying to help others figure out their PTSD. I run an outreach non-profit agency. Yes, I am still into sport cars, vintage autos, and motorcycles. My three kids are all grown. I have four grandchildren.
I would especially like to connect with HS classmates for the 100th reunion in 2060... ya, right... beyond that... if there's a party for old friends that you know about... I'm always open for invitations.
