Hi!
I must start with a confession...I am not actually a member of the class of 1985. I was a teacher at St. Luke's for one academic year, and throughout the years have thought of the students there and wondered what had become of them. In the 1984-85 year, I taught English grammar in the middle school. At the time, I was a recent college graduate..and while I probably wasn't the best teacher, given my youth and inexperience, I really enjoyed working with the students there. Some of my best stories are from things that happened during that memorable year. It ended up being my one and only year as a full-time teacher. After my year at St. Luke's I decided to move back home in the Washington, D.C. area, with plans to go to law school. That didn't happen. und that what she did really appealed to me. She was, and is, an independent educational counselor, working with students and families who were engaged in the college selection process. I decided, then, to follow this path. I attended Northwestern University to acquire a master's degree in Administration and Policy Studies with a concentration in Higher Education, and then I worked in college admissions at Marymount University for almost ten years. My husband, Gary, and I were married in 1991, and we have three children, Maria (18), Sarah (16), and Michael (13). I was a a stay-at home-mom for awhile, and went back to work part-time 10 years ago as an educational counselor with my former boss, Dr. O'Connor, and worked with her again until about three years ago when I decided to open my own educational counseling company, College Advantage.
