Eldoris's Story
Life
I went to work right after high school where I got an immediate interest in the medical field. I graduated from Ga State and worked as a Regitered Nurse at Crawford Long and Grady Hospitals. I now am doing "high tech" nursing for a home care company. In addition to the high tech nursing, I am now Administrative Charge Nurse for the OB department at Southwest Hospital and Medical Center.
I have 3 wonderful children and 6 adorable grandchildren. It is the kids that keep me young and spry :).
I reunited with members of our class when we celebrated our 20th class reunion. It has been great friends reunited since then. Homeroom 12-11--WE RULE!! My very best friend from high school to now is Patrica Swanson(now Kelly). We have never loss touch since high school. We have seen each other through many adventures meeting in the 9th grade. There is nothing like a true friend.
UPDATE 2006: I am back in the hospital. I work as a labor and delivery nurse supervisor at Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge, Ga. I am loving every minute of this busy work life. I also graduated from the Women's Institute of Ministry with a diploma in Advanced Biblical Studies. I am using that to aid in my church activities. Life is very blessed for me.
Update 2008: Went on a great cruise to the Bahams in November. Had a ball.
I got the cruise bug when we celebrated our 25th class reunion and we went on a cruise to the Carribean. That was my first cruise and I have been traveling the high seas ever since.
Update 2009: Still at Henry Medical Center with a busy managerial schedule. Hoping to retire in about 5 years. Working has been so much a part of my life, it will be interesting to see how I use my time.
UPDATE 2011: Retirement is only 2 years away. I feel good. Working 2 jobs again-Henry Medical Center and Southern Regional. Women are still having babies...Expand for more
which keeps me in business. Looking forward to resting and traveling. I have 3 children and 6 wonderful grandchildren. The younger grandchildren keep me young. I am busy with my church, St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church in East Point. I invite all to join us on any given Sunday. There are several Price High alumni there. We are the church where burdens are lifted; where everybody is somebody and Christ is all.
Update (December, 2013) 18 months and counting to RETIREMENT!! I will retire between Feb and June 2015. That is it. I must qualify. I will retire from FULL TIME work. l may do something part time or PRN (as needed) for a while. I will see how I feel and what is available for me to do. Who knows, I may be so busy globe hopping, I won't have time for work. Piedmont Healthcare has acquired Henry Medical Center But I remain as a Clinical Coordinator (Charge Nurse) on the night shift in Labor and Delivery. I am so blessed these days. As I look back over my life, the good things outweigh the bad things. I have learned to weather the storms of life with patience, humility, and forgiveness. I know who I am and whose I am and I let my journey in this life be led by the Almighty.
UPDATE 2014: Well, retirement is on target for May, 2015. What a real work journey I have had. I am definitely looking forward to some rest. But no dust will grow under me. I have developed my own bucket list. I plan on learning Spanish (fluently), learn to play the piano, learn to swim, and do some traveling. My most recent travels have taken me to New York and Chicago. I am looking forward to seeing more of this country we live in. My biggest regret is that my dear friend and former classmate, Patricia "Swanson" Kelly won't be here to see me through this,. She went home to be with the Lord 2 years ago. I dearly miss her. She was a TRUE friend.
