Eleanor's Story

Hi! I was Eleanor, or Ellie, in high school, Ellie in college .. I've been Lea Wait ever since. I worked for AT&T for 30 years in public relations and strategic planning, adopted 4 wonderful older Asian girls as a single parent, and in 1998 left corporate life in New York and New Jersey to live in Maine. You may remember me as the editor of The Journalist? Well, I haven't stopped writing. I wrote speeches and corporate nonfiction for AT&T, but since I left corporate life I've focused on writing fiction. I've been lucky enough to have had 25 books published, eight of them by Simon & Schuster. Seven are historical novels set in 19th century Maine for children aged 8 and up, one is a contemporary mystery for young people set in the New Jersey suburbs (PIZZA TO DIE FOR,), eight are in the Shadows Antique Print mystery series (a contemporary series for adults,) seven in the USA,Today best-selling Mainely Needlepoint series, and, one so far in the Maine Murder Series...Expand for more
, which debuted in 2018 with Death and a Pot of Chowder, written under the name Cornelia Kidd. I've also written LIVING AND WRITING ON THE COAST OF MAINE, for anyone who wants to know more about me, or Maine, or what an author's life is like. All my books are available in print and digitally, and can be ordered by your favorite bookstore (if they don't already have them) or at Amazon.com or BN.com After many years of being single, in 2003 I married the guy I'd loved for many, many moons. Sadly, Bob died in April of 2018. I have 8 grandchildren, speak at schools (3rd grade through college) and conferences, and spend most of my time writing. Google my website (Classmates won't let me list it here) or friend me on Facebook (either as Lea Wait or as Lea Wait/Cornelia Kidd, the name I'll be writing under for the new mystery series), or on Goodreads, if you want to know more. I also blog with other Maine mystery writers at mainecrimewriters.com And thanks for asking!

A bit of a gray day (snow coming tonight) but for a moment there was sun ...
"Is the sky falling again? It's all white out there!"
The guest room has become Tax Preparation Central ... with an empty laundry basket. All available space being used! (Cat likes to help me sort papers by removing the paper clips ....)

Yes! Thrilled and relieved to announce I just sent in the manuscript of THREAD ON ARRIVAL - #8 in the Mainely Needlepoint series. With so many thanks to my editor, who gave me a short (needed) extension.
Cover reveal for next Mainely Needlepoint book -- to be published October 30!
A joyous Easter to all celebrating! Bob Thomas and I also have a personal celebration today. Fifty years ago, on April 1, 1968, Bob and I met on the sixteenth floor of 195 Broadway in NYC. Our paths weren't exactly direct o
