Elisabetta's Story

Hello Stockbridge friends! I hope you recognize me with my quickly encroaching gray hairs; (I know you have them too; they're inevitable, though unbelievable!) You probably remember me as a trouble-making flirt who set boys fighting with each other, who was always extremely emotional(Hans wrote on my report card, "Lis could be a very good student if she didn't let her emotions run away with her!"),who was lively and curious about everything, who was a good and loyal friend, who adored and was adored by Nilo, (and others!) who appreciated beauty and the arts, and who, along with Nilo, broke a lot of rules!! And no, Nilo and I did not get married. He is a successful doctor in New England, a wonderful father, and husband to someone else! And, I've calmed down a lot!!! I was married, but now am happily divorced, and at this time, blissfully unattached! As a child and teen, most of my journeys were external. As an adult, most of my journeys have been internal, reconnecting with the parts of me that got lost when I was separated from my country and family, was adopted, along with my brother Michael, and brought to America. I was never religious, but now I am deeply involved in Metaphysics, have studied ACIM for many years; I'm a Spiritual Mentor and have successfully led an Abraham-Hicks ("The Secret", "The Law of Allowing") study group at my Spiritual Center, for the last 7 years. In 2005, I retired from teaching English as a Second Language to elementary refugee kids for most of 28 years, and I'm now in the process of redefining myself, much like (I imagine) parents must redefine themselves when their kids "fly the coop". Although I loved my foreign students, my fellow teachers, and loved teaching, I equally love being Captain of my own ship, and being free to do whatever moves me, whenever! I do not have any of my own children, but I do have an amazing dog, Shakti Diva, (a Shepherd/snow-lab mix), with whom I completed training in a Touch-Therapy Program with Support Dogs, Inc. here in St. Louis, MO. We visit people in hospitals and rehab centers and Children's Homes, spreading love and cheer, and lots of white hair! Shakti and I are also part of the PAWS for Reading program. Twice a week we visit libraries where children come to ...Expand for more
play with and read to us, thus earning photos of Shakti from me, and books from the library. Last month we were featured in a local paper and also had a video clip made with same. (stlouistoday.org) It is very fulfilling to be involved in this kind of volunteer work! I meditate daily, using a method called Sudarshan Kriya (The Art of Living), taught by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a sprout of the Maharishi. The Art of Living community here is wonderful, and I'm very happy and grateful to be part of that group (ArtofLiving.org), as well as part of the Soul-Esteem Center (a metaphysical church) family. I live in St. Louis County, in a quiet neighborhood, own a lovely house with a gorgeous fenced-in back yard, where Shakti, and my friends and I spend a lot of time. We love being there, gardening and enjoying nature, in- between the cold/hot spells and mosquito season! A few years ago I found and joyfully reconnected with my birth family in Italy and Germany, and many of the holes in my past, which created my teenage angst, were filled with the sometimes bitter-sweet pleasure of that reconnection. I'm having to re-learn Italian; when I visit my sisters in Germany, we have 3 dictionaries handy: English, Italian, and German! It's very funny! My Italian gets all confused with Spanish, which I learned in Spain, as a child, and which I have practiced much more than Italian! My youngest sister, Magda, lives with her kids in Dunn, NC, and it has been good getting to know her, although I never met her or Gina, as a child. My brother and his wonderful family live in Rehoboth, Mass. I don't see them nearly as much as I'd like except on FACEBOOK! I've reconnected with Michel Smith, Don Mahoney, Alan Ichiyasu and several other Stockbridge friends, and would love to reconnect with you. I hope you will let fly your curiosity and write to me. You can find me on FACEBOOK under the name "Lisabetta Troia", my Italian family name. I've begun learning a new diagnosing/healing modality called " the LifeLine Technique" (darrenweissman.com) and I'm really excited about doing that kind of work again. My life is good; I am content. All is well in my world, and I hope, in yours. Infinite Love and Gratitude to all of you for being part of and enriching my life!
