Elizabeth's Story
My sister, Penny Kao (Class of '88), just attended her 20 year reunion. She called to tell me how great it was. While I should have been giving her my full attention, instead I was creating a profile for myself.
Now my dilemna is that I don't want to manage and pay for a new account on classmates.com (simplifying my life or just plain cheap?). Anyway, send me an email at ekao at wowway.com if you're trying to reach me [MG].
So what have I been doing since graduating from Strongsville High School?
I went to University of Texas at Austin for my BS in Electrical Engineering. This is where I learned to short out a wing of the building (accidental, really), kick booty in an all-girl lab group and drink Shiner Bock beer (Had one this weekend. Did I used to like this stuff? It's like drinking a loaf of whole wheat bread).
Next I was in Los Angeles where I thought I wanted to go into medicine. Fate was against that idea. I missed a crucial MCAT entrance exam because I was short $20. The eve of my 2nd MCAT, I received acceptance to MIT for business & engineering.

eferral to MIT to help my partner with a start-up company. We were going to change computing as you know it with a removable hard drive. Right, so now we all have tiny zip sticks and I'm not Bill Gates.
MIT Leaders of Manufacturing was a mind and liver blowing experience. Fantastic. Many of my closest friends, husband included, are from that era.
Four of them are playing poker tonight, so I'm at home with the kids watching the national convention. Coming from Texas (where Democrats look like Republicans) and LA (where Republicans look like hippies), my politics are contextually based. I'm in Michigan now (know a good mayor for Detroit?).
For now, I'm staying home with the kids (5 & 3 years old) and loving it. I took a buy-out from Ford Motor Company last year, where I had worked for 10 years doing everything from appearing on a Cleveland morning TV show hawking the Thunderbird to supervising 60+ UAW workers at the Avon Lake assembly plant.
Based on my sister's recommendation, I should try to make it to my 30 year reunion. Hope to see you there.
