Elizabeth's Story

Life In 1961, I married Edward Hopkins from Suffield. We had two boys, Edward, Jr. born in 1962 and David born 1964. We moved from CT to southwest MO in 1977 and then to MD in 1989. After being in MD for 7 years, Ed was transferred to the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We stayed there for 2 years and he was transferred back to central MO. We are very active with the AFS student exchange program. We have 4 grandaughters and 1 grandson. 2 grandaughters live near us in Green Ridge, MO and the other 3 grandchildren live with their mother in FL. We have a small home in a very small town (445) and love MO. We will be retiring here in the next few years. We hope to travel more. We have been to Europe several times. Our sons married Europeans..1 Brit and 1 German. We plan on visiting one of our exchange daughters in Turkey this year. Actuall...Expand for more
y, within the next few months. We made our trip to Turkey and had a wonderful time. I'm ready to go back. The sites that we visited were very awe-inspiring. Going back to a place purported to be one of the beginnings of civilization was very exciting. Hopefully, I will get to visit the Ukraine with a friend of mine in 2009. I would love to hear from any one else in the class. This is the year for politics...politically, I am a bit conservative but somewhat on the moderate side when it comes to some issues. I have always thought for myself and made my own decisions...sometimes to my detriment. I am semi-retired and work part-time for the Assessor in our county. Hopefully, he will be reelected and I will continue with my job. If he is not reelected, I probably will not continue..actually, I will probably be asked to leave, if I don't leave on my own.
