Elizabeth (Liz)'s Story

Well I'm not sure how many people really know who I am since I wasn't very well known in school. I guess this is for the friends I have met along the way that are wondering what I am up to these days... Well I graduated in 2007 from St.Joseph High... I went to Northern Michigan University for a half of a semester... This is back when my priorities were screwed up and all I cared about was partying... After I left college, I moved to Grand Rapids to live with my mom. Kentwood area to be exact... I was working at endless jobs and met a guy who suggested I try the Air Force... Of course I laughed my butt off and said what ever... Next thing you know in Jan 99 I was raising my right hand and on my way to San Antonio Texas... My first few months in sucked. Not only from Basic and Tech school but also from stupid mistakes I had made... After Tech school I was stationed at Barksdale AFB Louisiana... After a year there I put in for England, and to my luck I got it and next I knew I was in England in November of 2000... I was only in England for a couple of months when I found out my mom had cancer. So I was trying to get back to the states so I could take care of her. But it was so hard... Finally in December of 2001 I was able to go home for Christmas. I knew this would be the last Christmas with her but I didn't want to believe it... I was waiting in GR with my mom to find out if my humanitarian was accepted so I could just move to Ohio and not have to go back to England... I had to go back cause my leave was getting used, the next duty day back I found out my humanitarian was accepted and I ...Expand for more
was going to Ohio. Five days later on Jan 12th 2002 my amazing, beautiful mother and best friend passed away and I was still in England... I went back to St.Joe and GR for ten days and then I was sent to Ohio anyway, and I was a total mess. I did stupid things and was always drunk. Of course I was drunk during the majority of my stay in England as well... Anyway in November of 2002 a few days before the big OSU vs UofM game I met my husband of a little over 4 years... We met singing Karaoke at a Sports Bar in Fairborn Ohio... I heard him singing Creed and I walked over to him and complimented him on his voice. He sounded just like Scott Stapp it was crazy! We talked and for the first time in years I met a guy who respected me and didn't think of me as a piece of meat... Anyway Rick and I moved in together from the begining... He was a lead singer in a hard rock band...In 2004, after rough times and almost losing each other Rick quit his band and turned to the Lord Jesus Christ for guidance. He wanted the Lord to be number one and me his number two... I got saved not long after that... I thank the Lord for bringing Rick into my life and for helping lead me towards Jesus... We were married in 2005. In 2006 I got orders to Lackland AFB San Antonio so we could be close to my husband's daughters from his first marriage... In 2007 the Lord blessed us with our little girl Bethany... In August 2008 the Lord blessed us once again. We were able to get custody of Rick's girls... Today I am still stationed at Lackland AFB with my loving husband, 4 girls, and our dog. I am truely a blessed person...
