Ellen's Story
I began my high school years in 1970 at Bernards High, Bernardsville, NJ. We moved from Somerset County to Waretown early in my freshman year. My father was originally from South Jersey and had roots going back several generations in the areas of Waretown and West Creek. It wasn't the first time we lived in Waretown, having moved to my grandparents' house next to the Lighthouse Tavern for a bit in 1963, In fact, we moved frequently between NJ and Florida through the early 1960's. ass of 1972. Before graduating SRHS, I transferred to Stockton State College and I received a BS in Social Work in 1977.. I'd been working in libraries throughout high school and college beginning at the Tuckerton branch of OCL. so I chose to continue at Rutgers U, where I earned my MLS.. After a long and rewarding career, I retired from my position as Information Literacy Librarian at Atlantic-Cape Community College, Mays Landing, NJ in 2015. Joe and I have three great kids and four sweet grandchildren.
I'm an avid reader, fitness enthusiast and social justice advocate. I'm also interested in genealogy, animal rights and vegetarianism.
One of my biggest regrets from high school is allowing myself to be negatively influenced by peer pressure. As a result I was less understanding and accepting of some of my classmates. It was my loss for sure. I wish I could go back in time and fix it but I'll extend my apologies here. Thanks for reading. Wishing everyone peace and good health. _∧_
