Ellen's Story
My father worked for the Bureau of Reclamation ( except for 2 years in Alaska for the Alaska Road Comission. Even though I only lived in Alaska for my 5th and 6th grade (B.E.) I still think about it very fondly. I was hoping to learn about my friends from Valdez Elem. : Carol Sue Rose, Jerry Wagstaff (Waggoner?) Larry Gregoryoff, Dennis (D.J.) Jenkins, Freddy?, Tanja Jazic (doubt the spelling is correct) and all the others whose names have faded but not the memories. I went to USU for one year, met and married my husband in 1963. We have three children, 2 granddaughters and 4 great-granddaughters and one gread grandson.And one more on the way. . I finally graduated from USU in 1979 with a major in elem. ed. That was about the transition time from teacher based to "parents know better" so I went to working in the lab at Thiokol-now ATK. cer. He is doing quite well now but still has to be a homebody..I attended South Davis Junior High in Bountiful, Utah for grades 7 and 8 and Manila High for grades 9,10 and 11. I loved Manila and the wild ways we had to take to go to school especially in the winter and /or spring. Either the bus drivers were exceptionally good driver (my selection), or heaven just did not want me yet because we never had an accident or a mental breakdown! I have regretted so much having to move away to Paonia, Colorado where I did my senior year. I really liked Paonia, the kids in school were so friendly, the country so beautiful. Some of the friends I had ( and forgive me if I omit your name...I am getting old, you know!) Patsy Barela (you kept me sane, and you were/are so much fun to be with.) Janice Bond- what a sorrow to hear that she had died. I miss her. After graduation from high school, I went to Utah State University, met and married Darrell Andersen 21 June 1963. We had three children, then I decided to go back to school. I went back to USU and finished a degree in Elementary Education.
