Ellen's Story
Isn't it funny sometimes when our careers seem to go out of alignment. Well, after landing a job as a Medical Assistant at a Urologist multi-physician practice in North Andover, they laid me off after 7 weeks.. Go figure... back on the unemployment line and not a Medical Assistant job to be found, it appears that this career line got saturated.. too many MA's not enough of doctors hiring. What next? Back to school I go, this time with the American Red Cross. Thursday, August 1st is my last day, I'll take my school exam and await my appointment to take the Massachusetts state exam to be certified as a nursing assistant.
If only I had not been a dumb arse and left the nursing field after a 5 year stint at the Bon Secours Hospital aka Holy Family (nowadays) as a nursing assistant fresh out of high school, I could be retired now.
If anyone believes in the power of prayer, please say a few for me, so the good Lord will set me on my destined path. Thanks all :-)

Updated turn in the road for me. After 18+ years with Avid Technology in Burlington Mass, I got laid off. I spent 38 years in high tech doing inventory control. I had enough of that and after 43 years, went back to school and got my certifications in Clinical Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy and EKG. I am currently working as a Clinical Medical Assistant in North Andover Mass. Went to a fantastic school in Lawrence (Lare Training) had an awesome instructor and did exceptionally well in my studies. Who said you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. I lhave been truly blessed. :-)
Life took another road... with always being interested in the metaphysical, I studied Reiki and the power of energy healing. I am now a Reiki Master/Teacher and could not be happier... oh yes, one thing would make me happier.. that is, if I could make a living out of helping people physically and spiritually.
