Eloise's Story
Life
Grew up in East Meadow..attended Newbridge School, Meadowbrook JHS ( its first year) and East Meadow High until middle of my Junior year. Moved to Florida and have been here ever since. Married for 40 years. Have three grown children. Became a grandmother for the first time in 2002. Added two more grandchildren in 2004 and a fourth in 2008. Retired from teaching after 35 years, 28 in the diocese of St. Augustine, in May 2005. I am a breast cancer survivor (ten years in 2010) and am doing some volunteer work to help in the fight to find a cure for breast cancer. r the Susan G. Komen foundation. In the three years I raised over $9700 . I fill my retirement hours with bridge, golf, visiting my grandchildren, trips and volunteer work.
All my grandchildren live outside of Florida so I spend a good deal of my time flying from city to city. This (2009) year I completed training to become an education docent at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. I work with mostly school children showing them various animals and stressing the need for conservation. I also volunteer with AARP to do tax returns for low income and senior citizens. Love hearing from former students as well as former classmates.
