Elyse's Story
Part of the scene on Sunset Strip in the Sixties with Darryl (later husband) and hipster friends--suddenly US Army called, marriage & first daughter; had another one in 1970 and the 4 of us traveled the continent while Darryl played and sang in various groups. Ended up in Atlanta, GA in early '70s, Darryl joined Starbuck ("Moonlight Feels Right" fame) and we enjoyed a couple of years of fun and fame. Lived in Atlanta after Darryl left Starbuck and enjoyed some years of "normal" lifestyle with him as studio musician singing, playing, and sometimes producing lots of TV and radio jingles, other artists' LPs, and concerts. The most fun memories are from that time--lots of friends, '70s laidback lifestyle, travel, fun being a family. Moved back to California in the Eightie...Expand for more
s, pursued higher education since girls were in their teens. Eventually got my doctorate and now am a doctoral advisor to grad students at Fielding Graduate University Santa Barbara. Lost Darryl to heart disease in 1994--a tragedy that changed our lives forever. Adore my wonderful daughters, who have grown up into beautiful, caring women (certified childbirth educator/midwife and bilingual speech pathologist), my fabulous sons-in-law and of course my wonderful grandsons--Luc (14) and Max (9). Expecting a new granddaughter soon! Reconnected to old friend, Tom and we have spent the last 12 or so years together, traveling and enjoying family. I've had all the usual ups and downs, high times and tragedies, and have seen a lot of the world. Still hanging in there . . . .
