Eric's Story
So one sits and wonders to one's self "How detailed should I be?"
To answer myself: Hopefully not too detailed - if you want the dirt in detail then message me!
Anyway, First off I should say I've never moved away from San Diego -- why would I? After graduation I was a wastrel for a year or so. Basically worked a few BS jobs alternating with unemployment. I ran into a couple of you out there. Mostly during the short period I worked at the Thrifty Gas turned Arco on Grand in PB. I hope you enjoyed your free snacks. You know who you are.
Once I got my umm... stuff together I decided to go back to school and pursue my geekish passion of software development. Went to MIT (Mesa Institute of Technology) aka UNLV (University of Northern Linda Vista) aka Mesa Community College for a few semesters. I also did software development project for the library and worked in the Academic Computing Center on campus for a while before landing a software programming gig with a local financing company in 1990. The money was good and I was young and stupid so I dropped out of school so I had time to play outside of work.
In 1992 I moved to a company that owned and operated a national chain of medical imaging centers as an IT slave.
In 1994 I went to work as a Programmer/Analyst for...Expand for more
a irrigation equipment manufacturing company based in San Marcos. Also in '94 I married the woman I had been dating since HS graduation.
In 1997 I moved to a company that was developing a bleeding-edge platform for writing applications for mobile computing devices.
In 1998 that company ran out of money so I went to work for one of its customers to help them complete a project I had been working with them on as well as some new development.
In 2000 I went to work for a friend of mine. He had started his own company providing services developing software for mobile devices. Also in '00 my first wife and I divorced -- and in a completely unrelated incident met the woman that would later become my second (and current) wife.
In 2001 I moved to Wireless Knowledge -- another company developing mobile software. This company was a joint venture of Microsoft and Qualcomm. Also in '01 I married for the second time.
In 2002 my wife game birth to my son who is the most awesome person in the entire world and the best thing to ever happen to me.
In 2003 Wireless Knowledge was absorbed into Qualcomm, Inc. and I've been a software engineer ever since.
I'm still close with the few very close friends I made going through school and have seen a few others scattered over the years.
