Eryc's Story
Life
After graduating from MSHS in '88, I went to UC San Diego to study Geochemistry and worked at Scripps Institution of Oceanography (mostly washing dishes in the lab!).
A good college friend got a job after college at Oracle (a software company) in San Francisco and got me an interview. At the time, Oracle was totally unknown; now it's something like the 2nd largest software company in the world (although in this market, that might not be saying much....). Spent 6 years there in a wide variety of sales operations jobs, including two years in Europe.
Met my now-wife, Liz, through an Oracle co-worker and got married when we came back to SF from London in '98. Left Oracle in '99 to start my own consulting company (Opcentric), left it for two years to be the VP of Consulting for Salesforce.com (yes, a ".com" that is still alive and healthy...other than classmates, of course), and then returned to Opcentric in Aug 2003. Sold Opcentric to Acumen Solutions in April ...Expand for more
2005 and now Managing Director of Acumen's SF Office.
Liz and I live in Pacific Heights and we had our 3rd child, Connor, in June '07. Also have a daughter born in June '05, Jocelyn "Joss" Belle. Older daughter, Sophie Lily, was born in May '03. Liz is a former attorney, turned Real Estate Broker for Hill and Co.
My mom (Sharon) lives across the bay in Alameda, sister (Amy) is married and lives in Santa Cruz, and dad (Bill) is currently in Redding. I still keep in touch with a few MSHS folks in the Bay Area (Mark Woollen, Ian Starr) and irregular contact with some old close friends (Jen Derwingson, Dave Stickler, Pete Engdahl, Andy Allen).
Much to my chagrin, Liz has found my old high school pictures with bleached-blond hair and pink polo shirt (I still claim it's peach, not that it's better) - an endless source of humor for her and her friends. My only solace is her "Miss Pacific Palisades" photo circa '85 with the pink one-piece bathing suit and white pumps.
