Eric's Story
"In June of 1998 I had a virus settle and destroy eighty five percent of the heart muscle. I was placed on disability and have been drawing social security since September of 1999 after my 5 month waiting period. I take medication to slow my heart rate down, make my heart pump better and make my life last longer. I am also in the process of losing weight and hope to reach my goal weight of 220 pounds. I was born in Hanford, CA and have been active all of my life. I have driven trucks for 25 years and also worked on office machines and lastly computers. been in Atrial defibulation (irregular heart beat) since my heart went south in 1998. Went into the hospital on Thursday (October 29) at eight in the morning and was shocked at nine and sent home at eleven fifteen so not too bad of a day. Now have to wait and see if I stay in sinus rhythm (Normal heart beat). So far so good. I went from fifteen percent to fifty percent heart function over a ten year period. He knew of only one other patient who after ten years was able to go back into normal rhythm so I feel fortunate.
The past few years have been hard on me. I was with a mate for fourteen years and she passed in June 1, 2013. I met a lovely woman who thought she had beaten cancer and she passed February 29, 2016.
