Eric's Story
Life-
I met a lot of my future Three Oaks Classmates at Chikaming Consolidated School, but not all. I just posted a class picture from the 6th grade. (1952-1960) See how many your can recognize. (I can email the Digital Picture to those who would like it.)
At Three Oaks, I mostly remember Annual Staff, Band, and, I went steady with Lola Hampton. As everyone may remember, I loved my Rock N' Roll, whether it was buying records at Lee's Music store or plugged into my transistor radio. I also played drums in a band, along with Priscilla Lee and Alan Olson, called the Tri-Ads. I secretly (or openly) wanted to be a Dee-Jay, even help create a 'pirate radio station' with the call letters "WART" for the Science Fair. (See the picture in my Photo Album) I loved it so much and went to Indianapolis, Indiana to study Electronics as a way to get my FCC 'ticket' to get into radio for real. Alan Olson and I also played in a band together in Indy, in fact, I wrecked his beloved 1963 Impala Super Sport in a traffic accident in which I was almost killed.
After technical school, I ended up following another love of mine...photography!! 99 cents for a full color portrait of you or your children. I got to t...Expand for more
ravel all over the US, snapping pictures and enjoying the late 60's.
I got married for the first time in 1970 and became a Dee-Jay for real in 1971 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, but ended up on the C & O Railroad in New Buffalo for 3 years, while playing in a band, once again. I went back to Radio, then to Nightclubs during the Disco era, which cost me my 1st marriage. I Bounced back & forth between the two (radio & Nightclub)from the mid 1970's until 1988 when I thought "I'm getting too old for this". My mistake, all the most popular talk-show announcers are all about my age. (Sigh)
But life has been pretty good. I finally got re-married in 1992, and now am back working as a 'low voltage systems specialist'. That means I sell equipment systems that I design, from special sound and video systems, to CCTV surveillance and nurse call systems. I am alive and well in Connecticut, but I sure do miss the Mid-West. It seems I am allergic to the air here in the Northeast. But since my beloved wife doesn't want to move, I do the breathing treatments. :- |
