after high school, i went to college until 68 when i enlisted in the marine corps for 4 years. i spent a year in viet nam ( 69-70) during which i had an experience best described as divine intervention. upon returning to the states, i spent my remaining time on caribbean cruise, at camp lejeune, n.c.,and at guantanamo bay cuba. when i got out of the corps, i moved to michigan, got married (divorced 7 years later and remarried on the rebound for a year ), and went to work for coca cola where i`ve been since 1973. backing up a bit. when i went to cuba, i had extended 6 months so my total enlistment was 41/2 years. while in cuba, i picked up E-5 sergeant.at this point, i was drinking a lot in order to deal with ptsd. when i became sergeant, i started working for our chaplain on top of my regular duties. for the rest of my time in cuba my drinking stopped. i did start again sporadically after getting out. in 1994, i again had what could only be described as divine intervention. i had been through ptsd counseling a few years before but wasn`t going to church. one sunday duuring the summer of 94, the Big Guy spoke to me and told me i needed to start going to church. this went on several weeks until i finally gave in and started going to the methodist church a few blocks from my apartment. since then, i have gotten active in church and have been - and am presently - on several committe...Expand for more
