Eric's Story
When I retire, I'll be the old guy by the BBQ or the firepit telling stories. Really, my life has been very busy for me - everything from Banking, Telecommunication mfg, Motorsports and auto racing(SCCA), Computer & Systems Integration and sales, Audio/Video & Home Theater design, sales, and implementation, and currently in Tax and Financial services focused on the Fortune 1000 payroll taxes - and most important is my fun time with music!.
I went back to college after Heald's Business College accomplishments and in 2002 I earned my BSB/IS with honors. It's amazing what we can accomplish with some maturity and committment - I loved it! Currently I'm studying for my CPP exam (Certified Payroll Professional). I'm also fortunate to be able to work from home in Discovery Bay.
I've been blessed to have some very good friends - some going back to childhood. I spend alot of time golfing, but most of my spare time is spent with music. I manage a talented musician (from Dublin). He is involved in several bands and projects. The biggest at this time was a collaborative effort exclusively made up of many of our Dublin friends that went on to have sucessful careers in music - Dublin Death Patrol - made up from Legacy, Rampage, Testatment, Exodus, Laaz Rockit, Tesla, Machine Head, Out of Control, Heist, Metal Warrior, Sacred Dog. DDP 4 LIFE!
I've even bettered my own guitar skills and working on a project for me and my brother to ...Expand for more
record some music and maybe perform live. My brother has an amazing voice - really a karaoke king at this point, but I want to create some originals for him to make his own. Dublin has so much musical talent from back in the day - it's amazing! I miss the barn parties and the keggers - even the HS grad party I had featured a band that had a few members that are successful now (one even nominated for a grammy this year - way to go Phil my brotha!)
I'm recovering from a spinal surgery I had in 2006. I had a discectomy-fusion of the C5-C6 vertebrae. I was 35% disabled in my right arm and rib area due to nerve damage from the nerve that was smashed in my degenerated vertebrae (all the years of reckless thrashing in my sports). But, with lots of perseververance, faith, and support from friends and family, I have made a great recovery. The surgeon and my Dr are very impressed - one of the best recoveries they've seen. I still have issues, but it doesn't interfere with my abilities anymore - just more of a nuisance because I still have some atrophy. I gained 100lbs, but have lost 45 so far - still want the rest gone! At one point I could barely get up from the ground or do everyday chores, but now I look forward to washing my car, shopping, and even everyday house cleaning (even though I have a maid...lol)...I never lost the ability to play my guitar, golf, or play pool - well, I never gave up or let it affect these things.
