Eric's Story
I am a professor of urban planning at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. I came here as Dean of the College of Architecture and Planning in 1995 and left that position for a full-time faculty position in 1998. I later served as Interim Department Chair for the Urban Planning Department for 2 1/2 years. I expect to retire from the university in the next two or three years, giving me more flexibility to travel and spend time in Colorado.
I also consult extensively with local governments around the country through my association with Duncan Associates and do not expect to retire from that anytime soon. I also write on planning issues (publishers: Island Press, Planners Press, Gre...Expand for more
enwood Publishing Group) and on planning law (main publisher: Matthew Bender, a Lexis-Nexis Company). After 17 years away from my birth home in Colorado, in the summer of 2007 I bought a home between Texas Creek and Westcliffe -- I hope to spend about half the year there. I call Muncie my adopted home town and am currently chairing an eight-member city-county reorganization committee that must present a plan back to the community by mid-2010, keeping me tied pretty closely to that base for another year. I have children in Pueblo, Denver, Seattle and Des Moines, and I am close to my wife's children, who are in Muncie and in the D.C. suburbs. Sandra and I married in the fall of 1996.
