Eric's Story

Well, let's see. It's been a long half-century since Central '57! I did my very best to live up to the Captain Video label, which I think I got at SCITS back in Grade 9. I did some of the early research in fault-tolerant computing, at the University of Illinois and Bell Labs, and some of the work which eventually led to the Internet [none of us oldtimers thought it would be used for e-mail, let alone for Youtube!] at Waterloo, then moved to Victoria as Dean when the new Faculty of Engineering started up here at UVic in '86, and have lived here happily ever after. tter when it stays up on the mountaintops, [where it properly belongs]. My son David and daughter Paula live here in Victoria too, which is wonderful. Eileen's kids - Kathleen & Jim - live in Denver and L.A., so we don't get to visit them as often as we'd like. And I'm a grandfather![Katherine, age 13]. Eileen & I spend some of our spare time sailing in the Gulf Islands. I'm a car nut, egged on by the twisty roads and [usually] lack of snow & ice on the roads here. The current one is 2 seats, 6 forward speeds, 240 hp from 2 litres, 250 km/hour max. I haven't bent it yet, touch wood.
