Eric's Story
Life
1981. It just doesn't seem that long ago. Maybe that's the price of age. It's just hard to accept that kids graduating from college today have only heard of Bob Denver because of Nick At Night.
I remember graduating from Berkeley in 1985 with a Bachelor's in Physics and Math (what a surprise, huh!), and then going on to work as an engineer in a few Semiconductor Equipment companies right
out of school. I did the marriage thing (to my college sweetheart), house thing, and settle-down thing immediately after graduating. Then, before boredom could set in, we went back to grad school.
Getting an MBA was a blast although balancing school, travel, work, and a relationship was tough. The relationship didn't last (MBA '93, divorced '94). That was ok though, since I quickly transferred positions and began to travel non-stop.

ed in the city doing the commute to the East and South Bays for a few years, but eventually stopped the extensive travel. The 1hr+ commute each way was definitely worth it for me. I still think SF is the greatest place in the world.
The last couple of years of work had been good to me, and I decided to take a break for a while in mid 1999. I started to race bicycles (I got the bug after joining Team In Training to raise money for the Leukemia Society of America a few years ago), travel, bum around and "live off the land" (whatever that means).
Not being one to wait around for boredom to get a strangle hold on me, in September 2000 I moved to Suriname (South America) to start my 2 yr. Peace Corps service doing business development and environmental development for a Zoo near Suriname's capital. I've been looking forward to doing something like this for sometime, and figure that there is no time like the present.
