Eric's Story
Life
Hey, thanks for stumbling across me. Chances are I went to school with you and haven't spoken with you in years. Since graduation from high school, I took a few credit hours, but pretty much jumped into the working world. After hopping around a bit, I've ended up back in Houston.
I currently work for a large web hosting company as a Linux systems administrator. I spend my day responding to trouble tickets, monitoring, and managing a farm of some 7,000 machines. It's challenging, and quite fun.
I used to claim I was the same person I always was, but times change, and so did I. While I am still as big (or bigger) as you remember (yes, I was "that fat kid"), my outlook on life and things of that nature has changed quite a bit.
Amazingly (to me, at least), I managed to find a lasting, fulfilling relationship. I moved down to Georgia to be with her in July of 2006, and finally found the happiness I had lost years before. We were married on December 23rd, 2006. My wife left her job in June of 2007 due to disability, and we spent a half a year in a bit of not fun financial distress, but that all cleared up once my present company hired me on and moved me to Houston.
I'd love to hear from you folks, and I'm always looking to talk to my friends (and not such good friends) from the past. It's always nice to see how people have changed.
So, e-mail me, and say hello!

School
I started my school career at Cherokee Elementary in Johnson City, TN. After second grade, I moved to Ashley Academy and spent several years there. I spent a year at Liberty Bell Middle School before moving to Richardson, TX.
In Richardson, I attended Apollo Jr. High for two years before moving to Houston/Humble, Tx.
In Humble, I spent four years at Humble High, before ...Expand for more
graduating (barely). After high school, I went to Kingwood College for a semester before moving to Southwest Houston.
I took a diploma in Information Technology Support from Computer Learning Center (now defunct), before continuing for two semesters at Houston Community College.
I'm now taking the title of "life scholar," and am fairly steadfast in the fact that I will not seek a complete degree. I may, however, go back for training for certifications (such as MCSE, CCNE, etc).

Workplace
Currently I am a Linux Systems Administrator for HostGator.com, LLC. I spend my days managing and monitoring the server farm, as well as responding to trouble tickets. As a command-line geek, I thoroughly enjoy my job. Especially when I get to write a new script to automate some annoying installation or other task.
Currently, I am also the sole owner of Fyre Networks, an online services company providing site maintenance and design, and back-end coding and support, as well as marketing and affiliate systems management. I also write for a couple of blogs, and manage a few more... Those earn a little bit.
Previously, I started a company with my family that spiraled down into the dirt within a year. We still have the company name, and will be attempting to revive it at some point.
I've moved around jobs a few times. Most recently, I've been a dispatcher for Liberty Cab, cab driver for Yellow, United, and Liberty cabs, an administrative assistant to the purchasing manager at Dresser/Masoneilan, and doing tech support at ev1.net and Software Support Inc. (SSI).
Wow, I've come a long way from the outcast theatre geek I was in high school; and an even longer way from the quiet, fat kid I was in elementary. Not sure what else to say, but if you can think of something else you want to know, just let me know.
