Christopher's Story

I am now a retired US Army MP living in Worcester, Mass and working (pro bono) as a progressive social/political activist. I was recently elected to the Worcester Democratic City Committee (Ward #10) and served as a delegate to the Dem Convention in Lowell on 7 June. I am on the Board of Directors of Park Spirit of Worcester, the Executive Committee of the East Highland Area Neighborhood Association and am active in the Disabled American Veterans Worcester Chapter#4, the ACLU of Mass, the Stone Soup Activist Collaborative, the Peace Movement in general and, of course, lefty election campaigns (such as the Worcester City Council campaigns, last year, of Grace Ross and Lynne Simonds). I got an AS in Law Enforcement (now called Criminal Justice) from Quinsigamond Community College in December of 1975, a BS in Psychology from Worcester State College in May of 1987 and an MA in Rehabilitation Counseling from Assumption College in December of 1988. A few years ago, for religious reasons, I changed my name from Erich Pattiselanno to Christopher Isaac Ariel. This year (2008), I am working on the campaign of Doug Belanger who is seeking the Dem nomination for the (Worcester) State Senate seat now held by retiring Mass State Senator Ed Augustus. Doug Belanger is the Progressive candidate in the race, running against a guy named Mike Moore (no-not THAT Michael Moore). Moore is the puppet of Worcester County Sheriff Guy Glodis. one and 3 to come) and stand-outs. I've already maxed out on $ contributions (Mass law allows only $500 max contribution to non-federal campaigns). Belanger has the Labor Union support while Moore has support from tired, old, white guys. (I'm an old, [off]white guy but not tired). In November of 2008 I was elected to the Board of Directors of the Pleasant Street Neighborhood Network Center and in December of 2008 I was elected to the Board of Directors of the Worcester County ACLU.I also recently joined the Steering Committee of Progressive Democrats of Worcester, the local affiliate of Progressive Democrats of America. Right now I'm involved in an intense effort to get the City of Worcester to rebuild all 9 Municipal Swimming Pools for our kids (Save Our Poolz). The Worcester City Council Races are heating up already and it looks like Grace Ross will be a candidate (she ran for Governor of Mass in 2006 and At-Large City Council in 2007).I will be heavily invested in this year's Council races. Grace Ross is now definitely running for Worcester City Council (probably from District-4 instead of At-Large.) Grace de-registered as a Green-Rainbow and is now Independant. Today (Tuesday July 21st, 2009) we turn in Grace's nomination papers. I feel the same way as before an 8-mile run in the Army: Take a deep breath and be prepared for monumental exertion. This race will be brutal but Worcester needs Grace Ross. I'm telling people "Let's put some balls on the City Council-elect Grace Ross!"
