Erik's Story
Life
Hi!! Of course no one will remember Erik McCrea...but perhaps Erik Hiltner (I was legally adopted by my stepfather, after college!! Just a formality).
Since graduating from Concord High School, I attended the Maryland College of Art and Design (majoring in painting). I then went to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (majoring in printmaking) and the University of Pennsylvania (Bachelor's Degree). I then moved to Las Vegas and went to UNLV. I received a Master's Degree in Special Education. I have been teaching ever since then (circa 1995), at an elementary school. I have focused on K-2 students.
I have been writing poetry since the early days of college. I wouldn't call myself a poet, though, but a wordsmith. I love playing with words and creating unique images/atmospheres with...Expand for more
phrases. I often spend years on individual poems (I usually have a batch of several dozen pieces in-progress), adding bits and pieces here and there on an ongoing basis.
I collect coins and tokens. Thank goodness for eBay! As a matter of fact, if you Google my name (Erik Victor McCrea), you will find my numismatic Web-sites. What a time-consuming hobby!! I no longer do much artwork, with the exception of designing the handful of coins which I've had minted (some people, including myself, mint their own coins from time to time. It's a small genre of numismatics).
I love movies. Foreign films, too (I'm from Brasil). Thank goodness for Netflix!
I'm single, no kids.
TV? I absolutely love "The Office". And "Lost"!! "ER" has been a mainstay. I dig "CSI: Las Vegas" and "Medium".
